WALKER FAMILY STATISTICS

James H. Walker [b.1885 - d.1954] and Mary Elizabeth Ann (Fannye) Harris [b.1886 - d.1969] were married in the Salt Lake Temple on February 21, 1912 and lived in Raymond, Alberta for the rest of their lives. They had 12 children, 9 of whom lived to maturity. In the eighty-eight years since their marriage, our family has grown by 486 people, 489 of whom are still living. This directory is one small way of keeping our family ties strong.

The following is an excerpt from the Glenbow archives:

James H. "Farmer Jim" Walker, 1885-1954, was born in Coalville, Utah, USA. He moved to Alberta in 1903 and homesteaded near Grassy Lake. He later moved to Raymond and served as secretary-treasurer of the Knight Sugar Company, before resuming farming and ranching.  He sat in the Alberta Legislature from 1940 to 1944 as an independent member. In 1912 he married Fannye Harris of Layton, Utah, and they had 12 children, J. Harris, Beth (Zemp), Fay, Mary (Fairbanks), Jane (McMullin), Robert, Floyd, Lloyd, Ralph, Reed, Glen and Richard. He was active in the Mormon church. 

A Few Statistics for the Past Year

In 2001 our family grew from 472 to 498 members. This increase of 26 is 5 less than last year’s record growth. It includes 15 new babies (and again, several more on the way) plus 8 marriages since last November. Two others have been added as members of our extended family, and two miscounts from last year were corrected.

A Few Statistics from 2000

In 2000 our family grew from 442 to 473 members. This record increase of 31 is 3 more than last year’s growth. It includes 19 new babies (and again, several more on the way) plus 10 marriages (a special welcome to Aunt Leona from all 473 of us) since last November. Two other unmarried couples have been added. There were two divorces this year – one was noted as a separation last year.

Including our missionaries we now live in 7 countries (the same as last year) including 319 in the USA (289 last year - up more than 10%), and 145 in Canada (down 2% from 148 last year).

A Few Statistics from 1999

In 1999 our family grew from 414 to 441 members.  This record increase of  27 is 8 more than  last year’s growth.  It includes 18 new babies (and again, several more on the way) plus 11 marriages since last November.  One unmarried couple separated.  Aunt Elsie died in January at the age of 88. One miscount from last year was corrected (*).

Including our missionaries we now live in 7 countries (four less than last year) including 288 in the USA (263 last year - up almost 10%), and 148 in Canada (141 last year).
